CHOCOLATE MEET MY CHOLESTEROL
After a high cholesterol scare three years ago I turned my back on chocolate among other foods. I completely neglected my favorite food, demonizing it to stay away from the lure of it! Sure, chocolate whispered my name, ‘come back to me, the high cholesterol isn’t my fault.’ Well, after three long years I can reintroduce my cholesterol to my long lost love, chocolate, following a study by mnm.com stating chocolate may in fact lower cholesterol for some. Chocolate also lowered some lucky chocolate diet guinea pigs BMI index! What have I been denying myself chocolate for? I know all the facts about chocolate that you probably do, for instance, the Latin name for the cacao tree, Theobroma cacao, means ‘food of the gods’ and that the Mayans and Aztecs believed the cacao bean had magical and divine attributes. I have also heard that Casanova was especially enamored by its charms. Call me crazy that I don’t give a hoot about what Casanova thought because I am just so in love with the taste of chocolate since a child that I only care that chocolates real and natural ‘goodness’ has been validated scientifically so that I can eat it ‘guilt free’!!! Can I hear an ‘Amen’? Sorry, don’t have time to wait for your reply I’m on my way to a long awaited reunion…Yum.
